Board of Adjustment

The Town of Westfield Zoning Board of Adjustment is comprised of seven regular members and two alternate members. 

The Zoning Board is responsible for deciding on certain types of variance applications including "d" or use type variances. The Zoning Board is also responsible for deciding on "c" type variances except where they are ancillary to an application for subdivision, site plan, or conditional use permit reviews. 

The Zoning Board also has the power to hear an appeal of the decision of the Zoning Officer, and has the power to hear and decide requests for interpretation of the zoning map, and the Town’s Land Use Ordinance. 

The Zoning Board generally meets on the second Monday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Town Council Chambers. Please see the annual meeting schedule for exact dates.

Meetings

In compliance with NJ.S.A. 10:4-8D (Open Public Meetings Act), the Westfield Board of Adjustment wishes to advise the public of its meeting dates. Meetings, at which formal action will be taken, will be held at the following dates, times and locations. Applications and plans to be considered at these meetings will be on file in the office of the Secretary of the Board of Adjustment, 959 North Avenue West, Westfield, New Jersey and may be seen Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Pending and past Board of Adjustment applications are also available for public inspection in the Department of Planning and Zoning at 959 North Avenue West.
