Information for Probationary Firefighter / EMT Employment Opportunity

Notice is hereby given that applications are being accepted for the position of Probationary Firefighter/EMT, with the Westfield Fire Department. Applications may be obtained starting Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from the Westfield Fire Prevention Bureau located at Westfield Firehouse Two, 1029 Central Avenue, Westfield, New Jersey; Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Applications will not be mailed and must be picked up in person. 

Applicant Qualifications

Applicants must be a United States Citizen 21 years of age and must be eligible to be hired on or before their 35th birthday unless exempt from that age requirement for reasons of prior military service or otherwise under the law.

Applicants shall possess and provide proof of the following: 

• New Jersey Residency
• Current New Jersey Division of Fire Safety Firefighter-1 and Firefighter -2 Certification
• High School Diploma
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License 

A New Jersey EMT Certification is preferred, however will be required within one year of appointed date of hire. (All licenses must be in good standings).
